What is Public Messaging?
Public messaging allows users to send messages to each other that can be viewed by anyone within the Sei Social community. These messages are typically posted on user's profiles or comments/replies to posts and can be seen by all users who have access to that specific conversation thread or channel.
How Public Messaging Works:
Posting Messages: Users can post messages in public chatrooms, discussion threads, or group channels. These messages can be text-based, multimedia (such as images or videos), or include links to external content.
Visibility: Once posted, public messages are visible to all users who have access to the conversation thread or channel where the message was posted. This allows for open discussions and interactions between users with shared interests or topics.
Engagement: Other users can respond to public messages by replying directly in the conversation thread. This encourages conversation, collaboration, and community engagement within the social network platform.
Moderation: Public messaging may be subject to moderation by administrators or community moderators to ensure that conversations remain civil, respectful, and relevant to the topic at hand.
What is Private Messaging?
Private messaging enables users to communicate with each other on a one-on-one basis, away from the public eye. These messages are typically sent and received in a private chat window or direct message thread and are only visible to the sender and recipient(s).
How Private Messaging Works:
Initiating a Conversation: Users can initiate a private conversation by selecting the option to send a direct message to another user. They can search for the recipient's username or select them from their list of contacts.
Message Composition: Users can compose their private message, which can include text, multimedia content, or other attachments, depending on the capabilities of the messaging system.
Recipient Notification: Once the message is sent, the recipient(s) receive a notification alerting them to the new message. They can then open the private chat window to view and respond to the message.
Privacy and Security: Private messages are encrypted and secure, ensuring that only the sender and intended recipient(s) can access the content of the conversation. This provides users with a confidential and safe space to communicate privately.
Features: Private messaging may include additional features such as read receipts, message forwarding, message reactions, and the ability to create group chats with multiple participants.
Benefits of Public and Private Messaging:
Public Messaging: Encourages open communication and community engagement, fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing, and allows users to participate in group discussions and events.
Private Messaging: Enables private and confidential communication between users, facilitates personal connections and one-on-one interactions, and provides a secure space for sensitive or personal conversations.
In Summary:
Public and private messaging are essential features of Sei Social that enable users to communicate and interact with each other in different contexts. While public messaging fosters community engagement and collaboration, private messaging offers users a private and secure space for personal conversations and connections.
